The Gottman Method for Couples Therapy

The Gottman Method Couples Therapy, developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, is a research-based approach to couples therapy. It focuses on building a strong marital friendship, managing conflict constructively, and creating shared meaning. The method includes structured assessments and interventions designed to help couples foster respect, affection, and closeness while managing conflict in healthy, productive ways.

What to Expect in Couples Therapy

Our Couples Therapy Process

Session 1: Couple’s Intake Session (50 minutes)
During this initial session, we gather comprehensive information about your relationship history and current challenges. In some cases, an additional intake session may be needed for a full understanding.

In-between Session Activity: Online Gottman Questionnaires. Cost: US$39. This fee covers the online assessment and a personalized report tailored to the couple.

Sessions 2 & 3: Individual Sessions (50 minutes each)
Each partner will have a session to discuss their perspectives and goals.

Session 4: Feedback/Treatment Planning (50 minutes)
Using the information gathered, we collaboratively develop a customized therapy plan tailored to your relationship needs.
